Located in picturesque Verde Valley, named for
the beautiful Cottonwood trees growing along the
banks of the Verde River.
The city has grown to
be the trading and population center of the
Valley. An ideal spot for retirement and very
affordable housing it is located only 14 miles
from Sedona and 6 miles from the mining ghost
town of Jerome.
Located at 3300 ft
above sea level it provides almost perfect
weather in a clean, smog free climate for all
outdoor activities.
Cottonwood is the
gateway to the historic Sinagua Indian Ruins and
ancient historical burial grounds. Numerous
monuments and other cultural attractions are
available to view and experience.
Summer can reach 98
degrees while temperatures rarely go below 35
degrees.
Numerous golf courses, each distinct and unique,
surround Cottonwood. The Verde Canyon
Railroad operates daily with a vintage engine
rolling past towering cliffs over old fashioned
trestles and through a 680 ft man-made tunnel on
a 4 hour round trip to the deserted Perkinsville
cattle ranch.
